Lea Planzos, DMD, MS

Board-certified periodontist, Lea Planzos, DMD, MS, is a Brooklyn native, so it should be no surprise that she chose to build her dental career in the area where she grew up. Through her role at Impressive Dental Care in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Lea Planzos has the opportunity to assist patients in their dental needs, with a particular focus on gum health.

 Dr. Planzos brings outstanding academic credentials to her role at Impressive Dental Care. She completed her dental degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, where she graduated with clinical honors. She then moved on to Columbia University in New York City for an additional three years after dental school, to earn a Master’s degree in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, the area of dentistry focusing on disease and treatment of the gums and underlying bone. While at Columbia University, Dr. Lea Planzos contributed to a clinical study on immediate implant placement which has been published in the dental literature. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology, placing her at the pinnacle of periodontal knowledge both clinically and didactically.

 An expansive body of evidence supports the connection between gum health and overall health. Dr. Planzos is passionate about assisting patients in addressing all stages of gum disease and teaching them how to prevent gum health problems from developing.

 She performs various treatments, including dental implant placement, bone grafting, root coverage procedures, periodontal pocket reduction surgeries, sinus augmentation, scaling and root planing, as well as LANAP® and LAPIP®, treatments that use laser technology to improve gum health. Collaborating with her sisters and father on patients’ dental treatment allows for seamless communication when comprehensive treatment plans are needed and a nurturing environment for patients.
